Is Korea Changing Course in ESL Hiring?

KOREA CHANGING ITS HIRING PROCESSES?

It was only a matter of time until we saw Korea hiring from inside the country, following the same route as Dubai and the rest of the middle east, when it became easier and more profitable to do so. The large number of teachers within the country have also helped eliminate the paper work bureaucracy, not to mention the large initial expense on schools and teachers. But the question remains, where does it leave those seeking positions in the country?

The good news is that there are still employers willing to hire from outside the country and provide visa sponsorship, along with flight reimbursements, but we have to say, it’s decreasing by the day. So if you’re fortunate enough to find yourself inside Korea, and hoping to remain in the country, good for you.

We have learned from some Korean recruiters that hiring South Africans are proving to be the most difficult in terms of paper work processes and the length of time it takes. We took this on face value and can certainly understand that time is a commodity that most employers simply do not have. But there have been a few institutes who pointed out that they are willing to wait for the right candidate.

So, it appears that all is not lost, but we hope that governments go a little easier on the visa process to make it faster, more efficient and seamless in the not to distant future.
